a portion of the necessary expenses incurred in motor

travelling is under consideration.

Local taxation is paid by the Governor in

the form of duties on wines and tobacco.

The Governor's regular contributions to charities absorb approximately $1,700 per annum.

The Governor provides complete massing for

a Private Secretary, Aide-de-Camp and Custodian at an

estimated cost of $4,800 per annum, salaries £300 each with

conveyance allowances of $360 per annum for the Private Secretary and Aide-de-Camp be ing paid from revenue. Passages to and from the Colony for the Private Secretary and the Aide-de-Camp are paid by the Governor personally.

The Governor is eligible for full pay vacation leave not exceeding three months in any two years, and for such half pay leave in addition as the Secretary of State may approve. The passage regulations of the

Colony do not apply to the Governor.

12.

The salary of the Colonial Secretary is

£2,000 per annum payable in sterling whilst on leave, and whilst in the Colony in dollars at the privileged rates of

exchange laid down in General Order 101. He is granted all or a portion of the cost of passages when proceeding on or returning from leave in accordance with General Order 149

(1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (10), (11), copies of which are enclosed. The grant of leave is governed by General Orders 133 to 138 copies of which are enclosed.

Partially furnished quarters are provided

at a rental of 7% of the officer's salary in accordance with General Order 109 (1) (3) copy of which is enclosed.
